Keep Moving Forward

It’s scary to think of all the negative events going on with the economy right now. Gas prices, the rising cost of 20 oz Diet Coke ($0.99 to $1.39, talk about going crazy,) the housing market plummeting, ect ect. The list goes on, for those who want to lock their selves in a closet until the “bad stuff” is over, go right ahead. For the rest of us, “Keep Moving Forward.”

Sometimes it requires times like to push business owners and managers to review the basic fundamentals of marketing and business. Sometime we can take note

Describe the purpose and mission of your efforts; often the purpose and mission are lost in the daily running around. Having clear defined directives helps weed out the unnecessary efforts.

Establish Goals. Each and every business should have a set of goals to work towards. An exercise I’ve always been excited about is creating a ‘Goal Book.’ Some ideas for a Goal Book would be to create a pyramid of goals, starting at company overall and then breaking it down to departments, employees, and customers.

Optimize and cut cost. Optimize efforts, optimize processes, optimize experiences, and optimize workloads. When optimizing, where can you save money on unnecessary steps. Will switching over to e-mail announcements compared to sending announcements via postal mail be beneficial to your customer base?

Get Creative.  We cannot act as if business is normal, we cannot have a static business model. Being dynamic and flexible help.

Communicate. Keeping your team informed saves headaches and overlaps. Simply by holding a weekly updates meeting with team members to keep everyone on the same page can help reduce cost. Communicate goals and
